Youth arrested with pistol from Sonabarighat during special Police operation

In a significant development, the Rangirkhari Police apprehended a 25-year-old youth identified as Amjad Hussain Laskar from Sonabarighat, following a special operation based on secret intelligence. The operation, which took place yesterday afternoon, resulted in the recovery of a country-made pistol from a Maruti Celerio car (AS 11J 8194), in which the suspect was traveling. Amjad Hussain Laskar, a resident of Baghabazar, Dholai, has allegedly been linked to various criminal activities, including the illicit smuggling of Burmese betel nuts.

Cachar SP Numal Mahatta confirmed the arrest, stating that the Rangirkhari Police acted on credible information and intercepted the suspicious vehicle at Sonabarighat. Upon conducting an extensive search, they recovered a country made pistol from the youth’s possession. Preliminary investigations have revealed that Amjad Hussain Laskar is allegedly connected to an underground network engaged in illegal trade.
