Youth From Cachar Dies In Horrific Truck Accident In Mangalore, One Battling For Life

A devastating road accident occurred in Karnataka’s Mangalore (Mangaluru) on Wednesday (May 28) morning. Both the driver and the assistant driver were from the Sonai area of Cachar. This heartbreaking accident claimed the life of a young truck driver from the Cachar district and left another critically injured.

The deceased has been identified as Afjal Hussain Laskar (27), son of Kutubuddin Laskar, a resident of Pakka Masjid area, of Mohanpur Part 7, under Sonai constituency. According to reports, he was driving the truck.

The injured, Nurul Hasan Laskar, son of Shahabuddin Laskar from Kachudaram Part 2 (Kachudaram Bazar), is undergoing treatment at a local hospital and is reportedly in critical condition. He was the helper driver in the truck.

According to sources, the accident took place around 11 AM when the goods-laden lorry they were driving went out of control and crashed. The impact of the collision was so severe that the lorry caught fire and was completely mangled.

Emergency teams rushed to the spot shortly after the incident. Nurul Hasan was rescued from the burning vehicle and immediately taken to the hospital. Afjal, however, was found dead, and his body was later sent for a post-mortem.

Local sources confirmed that both victims were working as drivers in Karnataka for several years. The tragic news of Afjal’s death and Nurul’s critical condition has cast a pall of gloom over the Sonai area in Cachar district, with residents mourning the loss of a young life far away from home.
