
Cachar College’s Department Of Botany Launches BOTANICA PLANTSCIA: A Book On Plant Science
In a significant academic milestone, the Department of Botany of Cachar College on Monday released its maiden publication titled “BOTANICA PLANTSCIA: A Book on Plant Science and its Allied Subjects” at the college campus.
The launch ceremony witnessed the presence of eminent academicians and researchers from various disciplines. The programme began with a welcome address by Dr. Mukul Kumar Baruah, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Botany, who also serves as the Editor-in-Chief of Botanica Plantscia. He highlighted the department’s vision of strengthening research culture and academic documentation in the region.
The editorial board includes Deputy Editor Dr. Shwetosmita Nath, Assistant Professor, Department of Botany, and Associate Editors Dr. Biswajit Deb Roy, Rupjily Beypi and Dr. Debasish Deb, all Assistant Professors of the department.
Dr. Swadesh Ranjan Das, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Philosophy, spoke on the relevance of plant science in literature and emphasised the growing need for interdisciplinary research. The event was graced by Dr. Pronoy Ranjan Deb, retired Principal of Radhamadhav College, as the Chief Guest, who congratulated the department and described the publication as a valuable resource for researchers in life sciences.
Vice Principal of Cachar College, Md. Sams Uddin, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of History, also extended congratulations to the editorial team for their academic achievement. Addressing the gathering, Principal Dr. Apratim Nag lauded the department for bringing out the first volume of the series and appreciated the collective effort of the editorial board in maintaining high academic standards.
Prior to the release, a condolence meeting was held in memory of Late Dr. Asish Nath, Associate Professor, Department of Botany, Gurucharan University, who passed away recently.
The book was formally released thereafter. Dr. Debasish Deb anchored the programme, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Shwetosmita Nath. The launch of BOTANICA PLANTSCIA is being seen as a major step towards strengthening scientific discourse and interdisciplinary collaboration at Cachar College and across the Northeast.
