Cachar DC Announces Release of Draft Electoral Roll After Special Revision, Voter Count Crosses 14.15 Lakh

The draft electoral roll for the seven Legislative Assembly Constituencies (LACs) of Cachar district was published on Saturday (December 27, 2025) following the notification of the Special Revision (SR) by the Election Commission of India on November 17.

The announcement was made during a press conference at the Cachar District Commissioner’s office by District Commissioner Mirdul Yadav. Sharing the details, Yadav informed that Cachar now has a total of 14,15,439 voters across the 7 Legislative Assembly Constituencies, marking an increase of 21,957 voters compared to the previous electoral roll.

According to the published data, the district has 7,01,888 male voters and 7,13,533 female voters. Among the seven constituencies, the Silchar Assembly constituency has the highest number of voters, with 2,22,351 electors.

The District Commissioner stated that Cachar has 1,732 polling stations at present, an increase from the earlier 1,551 polling stations, reflecting efforts to improve voter accessibility ahead of the upcoming election year.

Explaining the Special Revision process, Yadav said Booth Level Officers (BLOs) carried out door-to-door verification to identify voters to be added, deleted or shifted. “The collected data is being updated through Form 6, Form 7 and Form 8. As per the Election Commission’s guidelines, the process will be participative and transparent, and we will share the updated data with political parties every week,” he said.

He further announced that special campaign days will be held on January 3 and 4, and again on January 10 and 11, 2026, to facilitate voter registration and corrections. The last date for submission of claims, objections and corrections is January 22, 2026. Disposal of all applications is expected to be completed by February 2, 2026, while the final electoral roll will be published on February 10, 2026.

The administration also disclosed that the number of D-voters in Cachar district currently stands at 3,304.

“Our effort is to ensure that no eligible voter is left out and that no ineligible voter remains on the list. The next one month will be very crucial, as this is also an election year,” District Commissioner Mirdul Yadav said.
