Cachar: Hit-And-Run In Kashipur; Five Injured, Two Critical in SMCH
In yet another horrifying hit-and-run incident, five young men were seriously injured after an SUV rammed into a passenger-carrying auto-rickshaw near the CRPF camp in Kashipur, Cachar, on Wednesday night (July 9).
The accident occurred around 9 PM on the Silchar–Imphal National Highway when the electric auto, reportedly heading towards Lakhipur, was hit by a speeding black SUV coming from the opposite direction. The vehicle fled the scene immediately after the collision.
The force of the impact was so severe that the auto was flung some distance, leaving the driver and four passengers grievously injured. All the victims are reportedly friends and residents of College Road in Lakhipur. Locals who witnessed the aftermath described the scene as disturbing.
“A car rammed into the auto and ran off. When we reached there for help, one of them was under the auto, one was hanging from the front windshield, and the others were thrown off in a haywire state. We safely took them out and called 108 Emergency to send them to the hospital,” said a local resident.
All five were rushed to Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH). As of now, two of them remain in critical condition, while the others are undergoing treatment.
