Cachar Police Nab Two Quack Dentists in Silchar After 10 Years of Illegal Practice
Cachar Police on Saturday (September 6) busted two quack dentists allegedly running clinics for over 10 years without valid medical qualifications. Acting on a complaint from Dr. Pradip Kr Das of the Indian Dental Association, Assam State Branch, a police team raided Hazari Dental Clinic and Mazumdar Dental Clinic at India Club point, Tarapur, and apprehended two men — Kamrul Islam Hazari (50) of Madhurbond and Tinku Mazumder (53) of Malugram.
Both were caught red-handed attending to patients for dental treatment and surgery. Police seized doctor’s prescription pads from Hazari Dental clinic and Mazumder Dental bearing their name and fabricated qualifications. During interrogation, the accused claimed they were “dental therapists” and held an “alternative science MD degree” from a college in West Bengal. They admitted to offering basic treatments, including filling, scaling, and mouthwash.
Cachar Senior Superintendent of Police Numal Mahatta confirmed the arrests on Sunday (September 7) and said, “Based on a complaint from the Indian Dental Association, we have identified a few people practising as dental surgeons without any license. We launched a special operation and found two fake doctors from the Masjid Complex of the India Club point. Kamrul Islam Hazari has been running his clinic for over 10 years, while Tinku Mazumder was also operating illegally at Mazumder Dental. They were caught while performing surgery on a patient. They have been financially exploiting people for years, and we will take strict action
against them.”
“They have been running this nexus and without people being aware of their qualification, but as soon as we got the information, we arrested them with no delay, and we are ready to take strict actions against them and others involved in this nexus. CM Sir has also instructed us to take strict actions against those quacks or those acting as doctors”, Mahatta also stated
SSP Mahatta added that the accused confessed to not being doctors but had been using doctors’ pads and treating patients for a long time. He assured that the crackdown on such quacks will continue, following instructions from the Chief Minister to take strong action against fake practitioners.
