Chandranathpur Railway Station Gets New Stops For Silchar–Rangiya Express And Agartala–Bengaluru Humsafar

Silchar MP Parimal Suklabaidya on Saturday inaugurated new stoppages for two important trains at Chandranathpur Railway Station, fulfilling a long-standing demand of residents from the greater Chandranathpur, Katigorah and Silchar Lok Sabha areas. The trains include the Silchar–Rangiya / Rangiya–Silchar Express (15611/15612) and the Agartala–Bengaluru Humsafar Express (12503/12504). The MP formally flagged off the Humsafar Express during the programme.

The stoppage was approved by Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw following a request from the MP, who was informed about the approval through a letter dated March 5. Railway authorities organised the inaugural programme on Saturday to mark the commencement of the new stoppage.

Speaking at the event, Suklabaidya expressed happiness that the long-pending demand of the locals had finally been fulfilled and thanked the Railway Minister for approving the proposal. He said the new stoppages would significantly improve connectivity for people from Chandranathpur, Kalain, Bhangarpar, Katigorah and other parts of the greater Silchar constituency, making travel easier and more convenient.

The MP also mentioned that during a meeting with the Railway Minister on February 9, he had submitted several proposals aimed at improving railway services in the Barak Valley, including the demand for these stoppages and upgrading the old ICF coaches of the Guwahati–Silchar–Guwahati Express to modern LHB coaches.

Locals expressed happiness over the introduction of the new stoppages and thanked the MP for his initiative. The event was attended by officials from Badarpur Railway Junction, the Station Superintendent of Chandranathpur Railway Station, Zilla Parishad member Pompi Das, Kalain Mandal BJP president Nitya Gopal Das, Mimo Das, and other dignitaries.
