Daring Nighttime Robbery in Borkhola: Armed Gang Attacks House Owner to Loot Cash, Gold

A terrifying armed robbery rocked Borjatrapur under Borkhola in Cachar district last night ( early morning of July 10), leaving the local community in shock. A group of about 10 masked robbers looted valuables worth several lakhs from the house of local businessman Junaid Ahmed.

As per the homeowner, the incident occurred around 2 AM when the gang, armed with guns and other weapons and wearing woollen monkey caps, forcefully entered the residence by breaking open the wooden frame of the main door.

Once inside, the gang terrorised the family at gunpoint and went on a rampage, breaking open several almirahs and safe. They looted approximately Rs. 2 lakh in cash along with gold ornaments worth several lakhs. In a desperate attempt to resist, the homeowner, Junaid Ahmed, was brutally attacked by the robbers, leaving him seriously injured.

“Last night, there was a daring robbery at the residence of a businessman named Junaid Ahmed of our Borjatrapur, Borkhol area. At around 1:30 AM, a group of around 10 to 12 man entered their home and terrified them. They had different types of weapons, including daggers and even a gun. They tied Junaid after beating him up. His mother, wife his young daughter were also attacked. They wreaked havoc around the house for more than 30 minutes and later fled. We immediately reported the incident to Bhangarpar Thana, and police have launched an investigation”, said their neighbour.

The robbers caused widespread damage in the house while searching for valuables, leaving the premises in a wrecked state.

Police reached the spot shortly after receiving information and have started an investigation, though no concrete leads have been found yet regarding the identity or whereabouts of the robbers.
