
Dead Body Of Missing NIT Silchar Student Recovered At Harangajao Waterfall, Two Others Still Missing
In a tragic development, the body of one of the missing NIT Silchar students has been recovered from the Boulsol waterfall near Harangajao in Dima Hasao district on Saturday evening (November 8). The deceased has been identified as Sarvakritika Singh, a first-year B.Tech student of Electrical Engineering at NIT Silchar.
According to reports, a group of NIT Silchar students had gone on a trip to Harangajao on Saturday when three of them — two girls and one boy — accidentally fell into the Boulchal waterfall and went missing. After hours of intensive search, rescue teams managed to recover the body of Sarvakritika Singh on Saturday evening.
Confirming the development, Ripunjoy Kakoti, Senior Superintendent of Police, Dima Hasao, told Barak Bulletin that the rescue operation has been temporarily suspended due to darkness and unfavourable conditions. “The operation will resume on Sunday morning. The body has been identified by the NIT Silchar authorities who reached the spot,” Kakoti said.
The two other missing students have been identified as Sauhard Rai (20) from Uttar Pradesh and Radhika (19) from Bihar, both first-year students at the institute.
Meanwhile, a team from NIT Silchar, including officials and students, has reached Harangajao to assist local authorities in the ongoing rescue efforts. The incident has sent shockwaves across the campus and the student community, with prayers pouring in for the safe recovery of the remaining two missing students.
NIT Silchar authorities have not yet confirmed how many students had gone to the waterfall on Saturday, along with the three missing students.
