
*Examination on May 19 shifted to June 5; AHSEC issues notice after protests*
After receiving huge backlash from the people of Barak Valley regarding the decision to schedule Bengali exam of the Higher Secondary examination on May 19 Bhasha Shaheed Divas, the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) has today announced that they’ve rescheduled the Modern Indian Language (MIL) paper of which Bengali is an option, to a revised date of June 5. This was disseminated today via an official notification of the AHSEC which also mentioned that due to the same reason, thee examination of the Computer Science and Application paper of HS 1st year previously scheduled to be conducted on May 19 is now preponed to May 17 instead.
According to the official notification, the examination of Modern Indian Languages/Alternative English of the Higher Secondary Final Examination 2021 scheduled on May 19, 2021, Wednesday (Evening Shift) has been rescheduled on June 5, 2021 (Morning Shift) due to technical reason.
Further, due to the same reason, the examination of Computer Science & Application of the Higher Secondary First Year Examination, 2021 scheduled on May 19, 2021, Wednesday (Morning Shift) has also been rescheduled/preponed to May 17, 2021, Monday (Evening Shift) along with Music Group C.
It is to be noted that right after various political parties and social organizations of Barak Valley decided to call a 12-hour strike to protest against the original routine which had Bengali examination on May 19, Silchar MP Rajdeep Roy had assured everyone back then that the examination would definitely be rescheduled to some other date, if not the entire examination gets called off due to the worsening Covid situation.
