In a major breakthrough in the fight against narcotics, Sribhumi Police on Thursday morning seized a massive consignment of Yaba tablets from a vehicle intercepted at Kandigram under Badarpur Police Station. Acting on specific intelligence, the police intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number AS 01 MC 2851 and uncovered a secret chamber beneath the bonnet where 150,000 Yaba tablets were concealed.

The vehicle, reportedly coming from Imphal in Manipur, was part of a larger drug trafficking operation. Along with the seizure, another vehicle bearing registration number TR 01 AX 1646 was also taken into custody.

Two individuals were arrested in connection with the bust. The accused have been identified as Yahiya Khan, son of MD Noor Him, a resident of Kwakta village under Moirang Police Station in Bishnupur district, Manipur and Sumon Uddin, son of Asab Uddin, hailing from Tilabari village under Patharkandi Police Station in Sribhumi district.

The drugs were hidden in a secret compartment under the bonnet. The successful bust highlights the increasing vigilance of Sribhumi Police in curbing the movement of illegal drugs through the region. Further investigation is underway to uncover the broader network behind the smuggling operation.
