
115 positive in Cachar, 733 active cases in Barak Valley; Public School Road resident among 2 dead with COVID at SMCH
Cachar district on April 27, reported 115 positive cases – highest so far in 2021. 50 individuals have tested positive on the Rapid Antigen Test kit while 65 on RT-PCR.
Two individuals succumbed at the COVID wards of Silchar Medical College and Hospital on Tuesday. 67-year-old Arati Deb a resident of Public School Road was declared dead in the night. She was admitted on April 24 at 1:24 am. 65-year-old Biswajit Paul was also declared dead on Tuesday. Paul is a resident of the Kalain Bazar area.
Reports of both the deceased have been sent to the state-level Death Audit Board which will decide after evaluation if COVID is the cause of death. As informed by SDPO Ibrahim Ali, currently, there are 559 active cases in the district.
In Karimganj district, 1738 samples were tested on April 27, and out of them, 24 tested positive. The district reported 12 discharges on Tuesday, leaving 104 active cases.
Hailakandi has reported 16 fresh COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, pushing the coronavirus tally in the district to 3,454.
Of the 16 active cases detected on Tuesday, 12 have been found positive under Rapid Antigen Test. The district’s health department informed that 487 samples are being awaited from Silchar Medical College and Hospital. Hailakandi all together has 70 active COVID-19 cases.
As all three districts of Barak Valley report high number of cases once again, the active cases in the valley swells up to 733 cases,
