12 packets of marijuana confiscated from Delhi Bound Rajdhani Express at Badarpur; Trepidation among passengers
12 packets of marijuana weighing about 19 kilograms were confiscated from Delhi Bound Agartala-Anand Vihar Rajdhani Express at Badarpur Railway Junction. As per sources, after departing from Tripura, the intel department of BSF got a tip-off about marijuana being peddled via the train. The lead was shared with the Silchar and Bhanga division of BSF. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the train didn’t have any stop midway and reached Badarpur station directly. As soon as the train halted at the station, BSF RPF and GRP officials started a joint operation and searched the bogie acting on the tip-off.
After prolonged searching, a part of the bathroom’s shed was opened and 12 packets of marijuana were found hidden there. However, the culprits could not be traced out and hence no one was arrested. A few passengers were also apprehensive about the manner in which those packets were found hidden with some even wondering if bombs can also be planted in the same furtive way. However, afterwards the train for Delhi safely alongwith passengers.
As per RPF sources, the confiscated marijuana weighed about 19 kilograms and it’s market value is around 2 lakhs approximately. The packets were handed over to the GRP at Badarpur Station. The joint search operation was carried out by RPF OC S.A. Khan, GRP OC Nayan Mani Singha alongwith other high ranking officers of BSF.
