17-year-old minor, Udharbond's Sahida Begum goes missing; 36 hours no news yet

Friday morning after one month break from her tuitions, Sahida Begum Barbhuiya along with a couple of her friends went back to her classes but did not come back home. Resident of Lathigram, Udharbond, Sahida has appeared for her class 11 examinations. Friday morning, her father dropped her at Udharbond bus stop and from there she went for her classes in Moulavi road in Ambicapatty, Silchar. She has been going there since last one year, informs her father Foyez Uddin Barbhuiya.

“I was waiting for her at Sadarghat, I often pick her from there after tuition, but on Friday she wasn’t there. I thought she might have gone back with her friends and then I returned back home,” says Foyez Uddin. His assumption was incorrect, Sahida did not return home, Foyez Uddin and other family members kept calling her but the phone was not reachable. Around 1 PM the family started panicking, “We started looking for her everywhere we could, but could not locate her anywhere,” says Foyez Uddin.

Around 4:00 PM an FIR was registered in Udharbond Police station, Foyez Uddin mentioned in a conversation with Barakbulletin.com that he did not get enough cooperation from the Police outpost. Today the family in shock, visited superintendent of Police, Rakesh Roushan, “He assured us that all necessary actions will be taken and shared that he has already had a word with Udharbond PS,” says Foyez Uddin.

Foyez Uddin and his family have not received any ransom calls yet. Family friends posted an image of Sahida along with Foyez Uddin’s number on Facebook thinking it will help them trace back their missing daughter, but what is very shocking and inhumane is the fact that since last night, the family has received many random calls blaming them and their daughter for whatever happened. “I am in deep shock, I posted my number on Facebook thinking it will help me get my daughter back, but people are calling me and making fun of me and criticising me, many of them are from the colony itself.”

Sahida Begum Barbhuiya was born on November 5, 2000 and hence is still a minor. She passed class X securing first division from State Board and is now awaiting her class 11 results. She is a student of DNHS school Udharbond. We reached out to SP, Rakesh Roushan and he informed us that the Police will take quick action and try their best to trace back the missing girl as soon as possible.

Barakbulletin.com urges people to not make fun of the family at this stage. Also, it is a very sensitive case and hence please do not speculate anything till the girl is traced back. We have attached an image with the story, if you get to see her anywhere please inform the nearest Police station.
