194 positive so far in Cachar as administration tests more than 2600 in one day

Cachar District Health Department continued its intensive testing drive today in all the Legislative Assembly Constituencies. So far more than 2600 tests have been performed using the Rapid Antigen Test Kit and out of them, 178 tested positive, taking the day’s total to 194.

The spokesperson of the district health department informed that a rise in the number of COVID patients is due to the increase in tests performed per day. “There is no need to panic, it is good that the COVID positive patients are getting detected, this way we will be able to isolate them. This is the only way to restrict the virus from spreading further in the community,” said Suman Choudhury, media expert, District Health Department.

He informed that the department is awaiting reports and the number of COVID positive patients can rise further and cross the “250 mark”.

Choudhury urged people to volunteer in the testing process. “We are allowing asymptomatic patients to remain under home isolation. So, there is no need to fear the visit to the hospital, there is no point in running away from tests as that could put the community under risk,” said Choudhry.
