2 dead many injured; Bus overturns on NH-8 at Patharkandi

Two persons were reportedly killed and many others injured after a bus, in which they were traveling, overturned on National Highway-8 at Deolakhal in Karimganj district on Saturday.

According to sources, the mishap took place around 3pm on Saturday afternoon when the bus loaded with passengers, while trying to overtake another vehicle, lost control and turned turtle on the highway at Deolakhal under Patharkandi constituency, around 95km from Silchar.

Locals immediately gathered on the spot following which the passengers were taken to a local hospital. The condition of some of the persons was critical, as per the last available reports.

Patharkandi MLA Krishnendu Paul reached the mishap site after coming to know about the incident.
