20th Convocation of Assam University to be held on 4th and 5th March in Silchar campus
In a notification issued by the Registrar of Assam University, Dr. PK Nath today it has been informed that the 20th Convocation of Assam University will be held on 4th and 5th March, 2023 in Silchar campus located at Dorgakuna. On the first day of convocation i.e. 4th March degrees will be conferred to everyone including Honoris causa except TDC (Bachelor of Arts). On the second day of convocation i.e. 5th March degrees will be conferred to students who have completed TDC (Bachelor of Arts) course.
The students who have registered themselves by paying Rs 2500/- are allowed to attend the 20th Convocation of the University physically. The Students may download the Hall Ticket on and from 20th February by logging into https//www.ausexammation.ac.in/certificate. There will be no rehearsal for students. The Gowns for attending the Convocation will be distributed on the same day of the programme from 8 am onwards. However, the rehearsal for Authority Procession will be on 3rd March from 1 pm onwards. The Convocation will start at 12 noon on both the days. On both the days, the students are requested to report to the University by 8 am. The students will enter the Convocation Hall and will take their seat within 11 am on both the days.
The students are requested to bring the Hall Ticket on the day of Convocation. Without the Hall Ticket, students will not be allowed to enter into the Convocation Hall. After the Convocation, the students are requested to return the Convocation Gowns in the counters from where it was distributed and proceed to collect the certificate from the Counters as will be notified later on. The date for certificate distribution to the candidates who registered themselves by paying Rs. 1700/- will be notified later.
Few months back in an exclusive conversation with Barak Bulletin, the President of Assam University Students’ Union Shubhamoy Chanda informed that this year the registration fees for attending convocation has been increased by 500 rupees compared to the previous year, which was 2000 rupees.
Elaborating the fees hike Chanda said “The fees have been increased as this will be the first time that we will have a traditional outfit for the graduates and scholars attending the convocation. There will be no western gowns this year which were provided by the university. Rather, the university has decided to introduce a waistcoat and a traditional scarf – Uttoriyo, which are being designed by the Head of the Visual Arts Department.”
He added, “The waistcoat will have a design based on the Dimasa Kachari architecture style as seen in the ruins of Khaspur and the Uttoriyo, which will be made of khadi will also have a similar design along with the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav logo.”
The University has invited the President of India and Education Minister as guests for the 20th convocation but the declaration of guests is yet to formally announced.
