21st Annual Convocation of NIT Silchar held yesterday, Minister Bimal Borah urges students to work for nation's upliftment
In a grand celebration of academic excellence, the 21st Annual Convocation of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Silchar took place yesterday, graced by the presence of distinguished guests and an inspirational address by the Chief Guest, Minister for Sports & Youth Welfare, Cultural Affairs, Power and Tourism, Bimal Borah.
The convocation ceremony, a momentous occasion for the graduating students, featured a prominent lineup of dignitaries, including Dr. S. P. Agarwal, Director of the North Eastern Space Applications Centre, who served as the Guest of Honour. Alongside, Director of NIT Silchar, Prof. Dilip Kumar Vaidya, and Padma Shri Prof. AP Dash, former Vice Chancellor of the Central University of Tamil Nadu and ex-regional advisor to the World Health Organisation, added their prestigious presence to the event.
Stepping up on the rostrum, Minister Bimal Borah, in his role as the Chief Guest, addressed the gathering with an uplifting speech. He extended his heartfelt congratulations to all the graduates and expressed his hope that they would become responsible citizens and contribute to the betterment of the nation. The Minister shed light on various initiatives undertaken by Assam Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, and the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, aimed at fostering financial independence among the youth and the overall development of Assam.
Degrees and letters of appreciation were awarded to the accomplished students of NIT Silchar, recognising their dedication and hard work. A total of 1,216 students received their degrees in diverse courses, including 830 B.Tech graduates, 179 M.Tech graduates, 58 M.Sc. graduates, 50 MBA graduates and 99 Ph.D. recipients. The convocation also featured the presentation of Institute Gold and Silver medals to exceptional students who demonstrated outstanding performance not only in academics but also in extra-curricular activities.
