27-year-old Jhumki Choudhury's dead body found floating in Barak; Allegedly jumped on Dec 29
After her dinner on December 29, she left home and her family could not trace her. Fishermen fishing near Annapurna Ghat said they saw a girl jumping into the river.
27-year-old Jhumki Choudhury was under psychiatric treatment. Her brother informed that she had developed some mental illness after passing her Class X examinations. The family was hoping that Jhumki would return to their residence in Itkhola’s Swamiji lane.
Today morning, locals in Borkhola area saw a body floating in the Barak river. They immediately informed the local Police station and SI Sanjeeb Bora reached the spot with other officials and recovered the body.
Brother of Jhumki Choudhury identified the dead body as his sister’s. Police sources have informed that the body has been sent for postmortem.
Jhumki Choudhury is the daughter of retired forest department – employee, Pijush Ranjan Choudhury. He has three sons and only one daughter.
“Physically, she did not have any problem. The issue was with her brain, she used to talk stuff that hardly made any sense. So we took her to a doctor for treatment,” informed Jhumi Choudhury’s brother.
He added, “On December 29, after eating her meal she went missing. We did not see when she left the home, but after finding the door open, we had our doubts that she left for the road. We immediately started looking for her, but could not find her.”
