Shocking news coming in from the business hub of Silchar – Central Road. Three Haj pilgrims were allegedly attacked by a mob near Bhowal Medical Store. They have been identified as Jamir Uddin Laskar, Abdul Khaleque Choudhury, and Nazir Ahmed Laskar.
According to Jamir Uddin Laskar, the incident took place around 1:30pm when they were on their way to Bhagabazar from Silchar. Between Ukilpatty and Bhowal point, unidentified miscreants stopped them on the road, took their skull-caps forcibly and threw it away. “He had his face covered with a piece of cloth. First, he came to me and slapped off my cap, then he did the same with two others walking with me. I turned around and looked at him, he had 10 – 12 men standing behind him, they abused us, attacked us and the shopkeepers in the area stood and watched,” says Jamir Uddin Laskar.
He also added that the miscreants further warned that they would cut them into pieces and dump into river if they did not leave the place then. Out of fear, the pilgrims ran away from there and took shelter in a nearby place.
