30,000 YABA tablets worth Rs 90 lakh seized in Cachar; 3 apprehended
30000 YABA tablets were seized from Bagpur Part II village in Joypur, Cachar on February 13, Sunday. Three accused in the possession were also apprehended by Cachar Police, among them one is a citizen of neighbouring state, Manipur.
Acting on a source input, a team led by the SDPO Lakhipur along with the OC Jaipur Police Station conducted a raid and searched the area. During their raid thirty thousand illegal YABA tablets were recovered from the possession of three smugglers. Two of them are from Cachar district, while the third person is from neighbouring Manipur state.
The three smugglers apprehended for the possession of the huge consignment of illegal YABA tablets are: Nizam Uddin of Dugnipar, Sonai; Ripon Uddin Laskar of Dudhpatil Khokilpar and Jamkhomang Haokip of Churachandpur in Manipur. After the successful arrest further actions were initiated by the police against these smugglers. The market value of these YABA tablets can be as high as 90 lakh Indian Rupees.
