31-year-old Bikram Paul succumbs to cardiac arrest during his trek to Bhuban Pahad; Another female reportedly dead
On the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivaratri, devotees from all across Barak Valley trek up the Bhuban Pahad near Motinagar, Cachar. On top of the hill, there is a temple of Lord Shiva where devotees offer milk, wood apple, flowers among other things. Considered as a sacred tour, the pilgrimage is widely popular in this zone.
However, in an unfortunate turn of affairs, a 31-year-old boy collapsed on his way up to the hill in the wee hours of March 1. The volunteers from Amraghat Group rushed to the spot and stretchered him down the hill. He was trekking up through the Krishnapur road when suddenly he fell down unconscious.
The volunteers then arranged an Ambulance and rushed him to Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH). The treating doctors declared him brought dead. It is suspected that he has suffered a cardiac arrest. As per available information, Bikram Paul is a resident of Silchar’s Deshabandhu Road.
A report of another death has surfaced from Bhuban Pahad. Officers from Kachudaram Police Station informed that a woman has been found dead near the temple at the hilltop. However, the Police officials are yet to identify the deceased woman.
