32 Bangladesh citizens stranded in India returned home via Karimganj border

Thirty-two Bangladeshi students and tourists who were stranded in India after their visas expired during the Corona period returned home on Thursday.

The 32-member team returned home, following the policy directives of both the countries, via Sutarkandi-Sheora international border.

All the Bangladeshi nationals were screened and subjected to other examinations by district health officials before they were sent back. Eight of the 32 Bangladeshi nationals were students, who were studying at Silchar NIT and were stranded since the imposition of nationwide lockdown in March.

Rest of them were tourists, who came to India before the lockdown due to medical reasons. But due to the lockdown, they were stuck due to the closure of Indo-Bangla land port.

Six students of Silchar NIT were kept in the NIT guest house. In the group,14 were males and 18 females.

They were stuck for a long time due to the expiration of their visas. When they finally applied to the government, their application was granted and that is why they returned home on Thursday through the Sutarkandi border.
