In a heart-wrenching incident that has left the NIT Silchar community in shock, a 3rd-year student of the Electrical Engineering Department was found dead in Hostel 7 today at 5:00 pm. The student’s identity is being withheld out of respect for the family’s privacy during this difficult time.

The young student’s untimely demise has sent shockwaves through the campus, raising concerns about the mental health of students and the academic pressures they face. The students have launched a massive protest within the campus demanding the suspension of Dean Academic, Dr. BK Roy. According to them, the deceased was prohibited from registration into further semesters as he has failed to clear the previous examination. The students also questioned the mental pressure they are put under.

Sources close to the investigation have suggested that the student had been grappling with multiple academic backlogs, which is suspected to have played a role in this tragic incident. However, it is important to note that the matter is currently under investigation, and the authorities are awaiting the results of a thorough inquiry.

Additional SP of Cachar along with other Police personnel have rushed to the spot to bring the law and order situation under control.
