4.1 magnitude earthquake jolts Barak Valley, epicentre Karimganj

A 4.1 magnitude earthquake struck near Assam’s Karimganj at 7:57 AM, Thursday, according to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the government’s nodal agency for monitoring seismic activity in the country.

The quake hit at a depth of more than 10 kilometres, the agency said

“Earthquake of Magnitude:4.1, Occurred on 16-07-2020, 07:57:38 IST, Lat: 24.54 & Long: 92.40, Depth: 18 Km ,Location: Distt. Karimganj, Assam” it mentioned.

The tremors were felt in the whole Barak Valley along with some neighboring states.

The earthquake was just 17 minutes after a similar such quake at Rajkot of Gujarat, which was of magnitude 4.5
