48 positive in Cachar; 2 dead in Silchar Medical College and Hospital

Till 8:00 pm on Wednesday, 48 individuals have tested positive in the Cachar district. Health Department informed that the number will grow further as the RT-PCR reports are yet to be tabled.

Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College and Hospital, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta informed that 29 patients are admitted to the hospital in the COVID ward and five of them are in ICU. Two patients are in critical condition in the hospital, informed Gupta.

Today two individuals succumbed at SMCH. Ashram Road resident, Surjamohan Das was admitted with COVID on April 17. 56-year-old, Das, breathed his last today at 10:05 am. The Death Audit Board, after auditing all reports adjudged it as a death due to comorbidities with COVID.

43-year-old, Bappa Biswas who is a resident of Ramakrishna Nagar Karimganj was admitted to the SMCH on April 19. Today evening, he succumbed at the COVID ICU. His reports have been sent to the board for audit.

In Hailakandi district, six fresh COVID cases were detected to take the tally up to 3,394.

In Karimganj district 1203 samples were tested and 11 were found carrying the infection. On the other hand, 22 patients were discharged dropping the active cases to 89.
