53-year-old Mongoli Das cremated as per SOP; last 24 hours 34 fresh cases in Hailakandi
53-year-old resident of Bakrihower Part I under the Algapur revenue circle, Hailakandi Mongoli Das died at the Silchar Medical College and Hospital today morning. Cancer patient Das was at the terminal stage of malignancy, informed Dr. Babul Bezbaruh, Principal of SMCH.
Das was cremated by SMCH authority under the supervision of the Hailakandi District administration. DC Megha Nidhi Dahal supervised the cremation that took place near Badarpur Ghat.
Another COVID-19 positive patient named Foijul Haque Barbhuiya, 65, of Borjurai village under Hailakandi revenue circle had died at SMC&H on April 10. District’s death toll now rises to two.
Meanwhile, the district recorded 34 fresh COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours.
On Friday, 18 more persons tested positive for novel coronavirus and 16 cases on Thursday, taking the total number of such cases in the district to 110.
Health authorities in Hailakandi revealed that Abul Hussain Laskar, 24, Gulap Hussain, 20, Bilaluddin Laskar, 20, Champu Das 27, Mizazur Rahman 32, Joshimuddin Barbhuiya, 28, Jubair Ahmed Laskar, 23, Zual Ahmed, 24, Dilwar Hussain 23, Sarimul Hoque 24, Anam Uddin, 20, Rohimuddin Barbhuiya, 29, Arsad Ahmed Laskar, 17, Nazmul Hussain Mazumder, 21, Ahmodulla Barbhuiya, 21, Anwar Hussain Laskar, 29, Dilwar Hussain Laskar, 22 and Jabed Hussain Mazumdar,19 under institutional quarantine facilities at Joy Mongal High School, Polytechnic Institute and DIET have turned out to be positive on Friday. They have been referred to the SMC&H. 15 have travel history from Mumbai and three from Bengalaru.
On Thursday, Abjal Hussain SK, 26, Burhan Ali Laskar, 20, Nuruddin SK, 22, Kolimuddin, 22, Saidur Barbhuiya, 24, Zubair Ahmed Barbhuiya, 19, Sozir Ahmed Barbhuiya, 23, Anwar Hussain, 20, Salimuddin, 22, Alta Hussain Laskar, 24, Wiseuddin Laskar, 20, Fokrul Hussain Choudhury, 26, Sultan Ahmed, 18, Kalamuddin, 25, Bilaluddin Barbhuiya, 25 and Kobir Hussain, 22, have tested COVID-19 positive. All of them returned here by flight from Mumbai on June 9 and were put under facility quarantine centre at Joy Mangal High School, Lala. They were shifted to the isolation wards of SK Roy Civil Hospital here last night.
Superintendent of SK Roy designated COVID-19 Civil Hospital, Dr. Sudip Chakraborty informed that 47 COVID-19 positive patients are admitted at the isolation wards while five are at SMC&H.
There are currently 71 active cases, which include two deaths. 39 patients on being cured have been discharged from civil hospital in Hailakandi, SMC&H, Silchar and Guwahati Medical College and Hospital.
Altogether 1,060 persons are under institutional quarantine while 912 under home quarantine.
