61 positive in Cachar; 2 died with COVID in Silchar Medical College Hospital

Till 6:00pm on Monday, 61 individuals in Cachar have tested positive for COVID19. Out of them seven have tested on RT-PCR and the health department is awaiting more results. Normally, the number of cases at 6:00pm double by the end of the day. For two consecutive days, Cachar has reported more than 100 cases and today too numbers are indicating a similar trend.

On Monday, two individuals succumbed at Silchar Medical College and Hospital. Fatima Begum, a resident if Kaliganj Bazar Karimganj was admitted to the SMCH on April 18, 2021. She had tested positive on Rapid Antigen Test kit and had history of hypertension with past history of Cerebrovascular Accident (CVA), arthritis and had fever, cough. She breathed her last today afternoon. She was 84-year-old.

56-year-old, Sarat Pally, Silchar resident Debobrata Dey also died with COVID today. He was admitted on April 24, at 11:00 am with fever, cough, and dyspnoea (difficult or laboured breathing) for four days. He has a history of  hypertension on olmesartan and amlodipne and also known diabetic on OHA. Patient was declared dead today at 7:55pm.

There are 52 patients currently undergoing treatment at Silchar Medical College and Hospital. 20 of them are in ICU while 32 are in the ward. Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College and Hospital informed that nine patients are under ventilator.

In Karimganj district 2,615 samples were collected and 21 have tested positive. On the same day, 13 patients got discharged taking the total active cases to 92.

On April 26, Hailakandi reported 17 fresh COVID-19 cases, pushing the coronavirus tally in the district to 3,438. Currently, the district has 54 active cases.
