70-year-old Covid positive patient commits suicide at home

In a shocking turn of affairs 70-year-old, Sujan Kanti Biswas has hanged himself at his residence in Silchar’s Nivedita Lane. He was living with his sister at Nikhilesh Roy’s resident.

As per sister Chandana Biswas, Sujan Kanti Biswas had tested positive for Covid 19 on Friday. “Today, both of us were sitting together and everything was normal. I went to the washroom and when I stepped out, I saw he has hanged himself,” said Chandana Biswas who is yet to test herself.

The locals have informed that they first saw him hanging at around 5:15 minutes. Biswas was employed at a hardware store near Ambicapatty.

Chandana Biswas is a music teacher by profession. “We have no clue what he was going through or under what circumstances he has committed suicide.”

It is worth mentioning here that the chief mini has asked the deputy commissioners to be cautious towards the senior citizens and only grant them home isolation if they have adequate resources at home. Sujan Kanti Biswas was living is a one room kitchen unit with no separate toilets. The room they were staying at has one small access and an iron staircase.
