8 declared dead in SMCH's COVID ward; Cachar's positivity rate double of Assam

Alarming statistics emerging in Cachar as the district reports a 10.67% positivity rate, double of Assam’s 5.68%. According to the data shared by the district health department, 223 samples have tested positive on RAT out of 2089. 10 Samples have tested positive on RT-PCR, taking the district’s total till 7:00 pm to 233 cases. RT-PCR data is pending and therefore the number of cases will rise further.

In Silchar Medical College and Hospital, 268 patients are under treatment and 92 of them are in ICU. 27 patients are on ventilators while 120 individuals are on Oxygen support. 52 patients took admission to SMCH while 34 got discharged.

Registering another all-time highest, SMCH has declared that 8 patients have died in the last 24 hours (till 5:00 pm). Mintu Deb 60-year-old resident of Tarapur, 2nd gate was admitted on May 20 was declared dead at 7:00 pm on May 22. Sharifa Khanam Barbhuiya a 65-year-old female individual from Dubag, Cachar, admitted on May 17, has breathed last at 12:05 am on May 23.

Nirod Roy, a 65-year-old resident of Harishnagar, Hailakandi was admitted on May 20 and he expired at 7.10 pm on May 22. Mahendra Singha, 56-year-old resident of Tarapur, admitted on May 23 breathed last on May 23 at 3.10 am. Mukul Mandol 57-year-old resident of Rongpur, Mazumder lane, admitted on May 20, breathed his last on May 23 at 5 pm. Pradip Mura, 45-year-old resident of Koomber Tea estate, Cachar, admitted on May 22 breathed his last on May 23 at 12.30 am. Mangal Das 63-year-old resident of, Tarapur, admitted on May 18 lost his fight on May 23 at 10 am. Priti Deb, a 52-year-old resident of Nivea, Karimganj was admitted on May 17, breathed her last today at 2.15 am.

In the Karimganj district, 58 individuals have tested positive for COVID19 out of the 1,378 swabs collected. Currently, the total active cases in Karimganj stands at 726

In Hailakandi district, 103 individuals have tested positive taking the total active cases to 767.
