9-year-old girl allegedly raped by youth in Cachar, later beaten by locals and handed over to Police

Another incident of an alleged rape of a minor girl came to light in Assam. This time the said act was perpetrated at Rajnagar’s Katatilla located in Cachar district. As per reports, a youth named Sanjay Roy allegedly raped a nine year old minor girl at her home as her family members weren’t present at that time.

A family member of the victim later arrived at the house and witnessed the incident while Sanjoy tried to flee from the spot. The locals caught Sanjay and handed him over to the police after thrashing him. The incident has caused sensation in the area. The victim’s family and locals are demanding death penalty for the accused rapist.

Speaking to reporters, the grandmother of the minor girl said, “After coming to the house I saw that the door was closed. I started calling my granddaughter but she didn’t respond. So I opened the door and saw her and Sanjay in a compromised position in the bed. As soon as I came, Sanjay ran away from the spot by pushing me.”

She added, “I asked my granddaughter what he did and she replied that she was raped by him. I screamed and my elder son came. I told him about the incident and he started looking for Sanjay. We caught him as he fell on the railway line. The Police arrested him later. We want Sanjay to be hanged.”
