
90-day-old baby dies in SMCH after testing COVID Positive; "Cause of death is Septicemia" Vice Principal
A 90-day-old baby has died in Silchar Medical College and Hospital last night around 12 am. The baby was admitted to the hospital and as per protocol, was tested for COVID19. The kid is a resident of Jalalpur area located in Kalain, Cachar.
Doctor Bhaskar Gupta, vice-principal of Silchar Medical College and Hospital informed that the kid was under treatment. “The treating doctors diagnosed that the kid was suffering from Septicemia and that has been deemed to be the cause of death.”
Gupta added, “The kid, tested positive for COVID19 before death but that cannot be called as the cause of death in this case as the kid was already suffering from Septicemia.”
The vice-principal added that currently there are 21 patients in the COVID ward and 12 in ICU. 10 individuals from Cachar district tested positive in the last 24 hours. 412 samples were tested using the rapid antigen test kit on November 8.
