Barak Valley: Panchayat election final results

Here are the live updates of the election results coming in from Cachar, Hailakandi and Karimganj. In Cachar BJP holds an edge at this stage while Congress is closing in. In Hailakandi, results have been declared with AIUDF bagging the ZP and AP member positions while BJP won majority of the GP President posts. In Karimganj, Congress candidates are celebrating. It is still too early to start calling shots.

Hailakandi Trends (10:45)

Final Results:

8:30 am: BJP candidate from Rajeshwarpur, N Indira Singh has been elected as ZP member. There are 11 Zila Parishad slots in Hailakandi.

8:35 am: Congress candidates Deepali Das and Rusna Begum has been elected GP president and AP member respectively in North Karimganj.

8:40 am: AIUDF candidate Sahidul Alam Mazumder has won the ZP Member seat from Aynakhal/Nischintapur. He defeated BJP’s Choudhury Charan Gorh by 3405 votes.
