Track cleared; trains are running again in Badarpur - Lumding route

A landslide between Phiding and Mahur railway station in Badarpur – Lumding route had intervened the railway services in the route. At around 12 noon the trains were halted due to the landslide and as per station master Biplab Dey of Silchar Railway station the tracks were cleared at about 2:44 PM.

 

“The Agartala Kanchenjunga Express and Silchar-Guwahati fast passenger towards Lumding, Silchar-Sealdah Kanchenjunga Express towards Silchar got delayed due to the landslide. All the mentioned trains are running again,” he added.

 

The Northeastern region is witnessing a heavy rainfall since last evening. Today at 4:00 PM the meteorological department issued a press release stating, “Yesterday’s cyclonic storm, “PHETHAI” over coastal Andhra Pradesh moved north- northeastwards and weakened into deep depression over westcentral Bay of Bengal (BoB) in the same evening (1730 hrs IST). Moving further north-northeastwards.”

 

The IMD has issued a warning too, “No adverse weather is likely over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Odisha, Jharkhand and West Bengal. However, light to moderate rainfall is likely at a few places over Gangetic West Bengal during next 12 hours. Rainfall at many places with isolated heavy rainfall likely over northeastern states during next 24 hours.”
