Youth's noble act to ease traffic snarls in Silchar

Silchar, the potential business capital of the region and the second biggest city in the state is growing everyday. There is a sizeable population of shoppaholics which throng the newly opened malls in the city. Also, with more people coming into the city, the narrow roads have rekindled the irksome traffic congestion across all ends here. Be it in the morning or fag end of the day, traffic snarls in Silchar is as unpredictable as the weather.
Amidst the menace when the traffic officials of the city are battling hard to keep the roads jam-free, a youth has volunteered to join hands to solve the problem.
Meet ,27year old Satyabrata Bhattacharjee, an enthusiastic youngster from Kanakpur area of Silchar.
Like many others, he too is a citizen of this bustling city and he too feels disgusted to see roads full of vehicles with no space for the footwalkers even.
True, we have roads much narrower than other cities, but disciplined efforts by all can minimise the congestion to a great degree, says Satyabrata. He informed that he contributes three hours of his day to control the traffic movement and assist the police persons on traffic control duty.
” I have been offering services at Siv Colony point, Rangirkhari and also at Bilpar point fromwhere I had started.During day time, I work in a local shop. I work for three hours in the evening for nearly a year now and I am happy that I could do very little for my city,” he says.


Meanwhile, Satyabrata, who is also known as Kartik has earned a name for himself not just among the locals but also in the police department as the officials are very happy with his inspiring chores.
The youth has come forward to do a very difficult and yet a very important service to the society.We are happy with the way he manages the movement of vehicles,” said a traffic official.
While on the job, people find him exchanging greetings during evening hours which is adding to the love people have developed for him in the recent times. A section of the city dwellers have even opined that if other youths come up to assist the traffic department, the roads will be free from the jams which also waste much of the valuable time.
