Meet Debosmita Biswas from Silchar, the winner of Miss Calendar, 2019

Mr. and Miss Calendar 2019 organised by Pratiksha Fashion Studio and Portfolio Agency recently was a big hit among the fashion and entertainment lovers in Silchar. The event, which stepped into its second season this year, witnessed a bevy of talented models weaving their magic on the ramp and mesmerising spectators with their style and flamboyance.

One of the models, who won everyone’s hearts with her classy and vivacious performance and kept shutterbugs engaged throughout the show, was Debosmita Biswas, the winner of Miss Calendar 2019. An avid music-lover and a fan of Shreya Ghoshal, Debosmita is pursuing her graduation from Gurucharan College and treasures the wish to be a successful name in the field of teaching and academics in the future.

In an interaction with Barak Bulletin, the drop-dead gorgeous Debosmita speaks about her experience in the contest and other related aspects. Here are the excerpts:

BB – How did you think of participating in Mr. and Miss Calendar 2019? Tell us about the experience.

Debosmita – Actually, I love exploring new things and have also been involved with different stuff from time to time, but had never thought of trying something like this. Many of my friends had insisted me in the past to participate in these events but I was bit hesitant about all that. Fortunately, before this event, few people who have full faith on my ability persuaded me to take part in Mr. and Miss Calendar, 2019. That was how I decided to participate in the contest.

I was really lucky to be a part of the wonderful event as the platform taught me a new way of self-development and gave me a bunch of amazing experiences which I am going to cherish forever.

BB – Do you want to take up modelling as a career choice? Who is your inspiration?

Debosmita – Well, if I say a model then I think a person can be a perfect model in every field through excellence. But if I talk about becoming a model in the arena of beauty and glamour then I think taking it up as a career choice is not only about beauty, but also about intelligence and experience. Besides, I love my studies and have always dreamt of becoming a professor. So, I think, I would choose becoming a professor as my career option and continue modelling, dancing and social work alongside my profession.

About my inspiration, ofcourse my parents have inspired me a lot for various things but I would be glad mentioning the name of my biggest inspiration in this field. My mentor, my guide and above all someone very close to my heart, whom I respect a lot – Mr. Sabyasachee Rudragupta. Without his guidance and support I wouldn’t have reached this far.

BB – Crime against woman, especially rapes and dowry-related deaths, is a major issue in India. What do you think is the reason behind this upsurge of crimes? And what should be done to address the problem?

Debosmita – Crime against women is a burning problem in our society now-a-days. In my viewpoint, gender inequality in our country is one of the basic issues for the upsurge of rapes and dowry-related deaths. Most of the times, boys and girls are treated differently right from childhood due to our tradition and societal system, which results in the development of a feeling of superiority or ego among males.

The problem would need decades to be solved permanently as it has to be exterminated right from the roots. But yes, literacy and a thorough change in social thinking have played a crucial role in substantially minimising these problems. Complete eradication of these problems can only be possible through education/literacy and positive development in mindset among people.

BB – Tell us something (secret) about yourself not known to the world till date.

Debosmita – Frankly speaking, I don’t think I have anything such which is not known to the world till date. I am open inside out and if I have some secret also then I don’t want it to be revealed (giggles).

BB – What are your future plans? Where do you see yourself in next five years?

Debosmita – Well, I don’t have any fixed plans as future is always unpredictable. But as I said I love exploring new things, so would definitely try all the good opportunities that I get in the future. And yes, in the next five years I would like to see myself settled and successful. I will try to become successful in every sphere of life and achieve my dreams, being a good human being and also doing something for the welfare of the society.
