Players auction for BUKSS Media cricket gets good response
The seventh edition of Media Cricket Fest organised by Barak Upotyokya Krira Sanbadik Sanstha(BUKSS) will start from first week of February this year. Even as the dates for the tournament are yet to be announced, the organisers held the players auction here on Thursday. This is a newly added feature in the tournament since 2018.
The cricketers belonging to various media organisations of the state, both print and electronic medium were up for grabs by the franchise teams. Two teams from Hailakandi and Karimganj are also participating in the tournament. There were three categories of players and the selections were done on the basis of open lottery in the presence of senior journalists and office bearers of BUKSS
It may be mentioned that the tournament is being organised to enhance the spirit of friendship and brotherhood among the media fraternity which is otherwise occupied in routine affairs of news gathering and dissemination. Already some of the teams have started their net sessions and all the players, teams and organisers are hoping for a cracking tournament this year.
Anirban Jyoti Gupta, central president of BUKSS and Dwijendralal Das, general secretary of the sports journalists body have expressed their gratitude to the media persons and team owners for taking sponteneous part in the auction and hoped for their cooperation in making the tournament successful.
