Ex-MLA Dipak Bhattacharjee passes away

Former Hailakandi MLA and CPM leader Dipak Bhattacharjee breathed his last on Tuesday at 6:15 AM here at Silchar Medical College and Hospital. He was 79 year old and had been battling with kidney complications.

He is survived by his wife Anima Bhattacharjee.

Bhattacharjee was known for his humble behaviour and had close connections with people at the grassroots. He was elected from Hailakandi constituency in 1978. He also held responsible positions in the party at the state and national tiers and mentored the party at crucial situations.
The demise of the leader has been deeply condoled by one and all. Party sources here informed that his body will be kept at the Saheed Bhawan in Malugram for people to pay their tributes. His body would be cremated at Hailakandi later in the evening, sources added.
