Cachar Police detains nine; 6 Rohingyas, 2 Bangladeshis from Saidpur in Barak Valley
As many as nine individuals were detained last night by Cachar Police. Reacting on a tipoff, Rangirkhari Police raided Sonabarighat area late Sunday night. Based on initial observations Police detained six women and three men from the Saidpur area.
It is learned that 6 of the nine detained are Rohingyas while two happened to be Bangladeshi immigrants. The owner of the house, where these illegal infiltrators were residing was also detained in the process. In their statement, the arrested individuals mentioned that all of them travelled to Silchar through Tripura. Six of the eight Rohingiyas claim to have Aadhar card issued by the UIDAI mandated by the Government of India.
Additional SP, Border Gaurav Agarwal, rushed to Silchar Sadar Thana and have been interrogating the detained infiltrators. He found that all of them speak fluent Bengali and thus no one doubted whenever they addressed themselves as residents of Tripura.
Alleged Rohingyas are Nur Khatun Ayesha (15), Dilwara Begam (20), Tahmina Begum (14), Sahida Begum (16), Fatema Begum (15) and Amir Khan. In addition to the owner of the house Sirbul Islam Saddam, Jahir Khan (58) and Selima Khatun (45), a Bangladeshi couple, also arrested
All of them will be produced before the judge in Silchar court today who will decide their future
