Infant found dead inside polythene bag at Udharbond
The dead body of an infant was recovered under mysterious circumstances from Lathigram in Cachar district on Monday evening.
Lathigram falls under Udharbond constituency, around 18km from Silchar.
According to sources, some kids spotted a stuffed polythene bag last evening in a drain near the residence of Ayub Ali, a resident of Lathigram. The kids had gone to a field near that area to play and were returning back when they saw the bag.
Out of curiosity, the kids went near the bag following which the actual picture came to light. They found an infant inside the bag. Soon after which the news spread like a forest fire in the village and nearby areas. A large number of people thereafter gathered on the spot.
Receiving the information, VDP secretary Maulana Ajijur Rahman reached there and informed the matter to Udharbond police station. A team of police including SI Giyas Uddin Laskar and SI (probationary) Chandan Jyoti Bora arrived and took the dead body to the police station.
