Lok Sabha Election dates announced; counting on May 23

Close to 90 crore voters are eligible to vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections which will decide if Prime Minister Modi manages to secure a second term or will the country get a new Prime Minister. Today through a media statement The Election Commission of India announced that the Lok Sabha polls will be conducted in seven phases. The polling will start on April 11 and continue till May 17, 2019. The results will be declared on May 23. 2019, deciding who forms the 17th Lok Sabha.

In Assam the polls will take place in three phases on April 11, April 18 and April 23 respectively. On April 11, polls will be conducted on five constituencies, on April 18 more five constituencies will undergo polling. Voter of the remaining four constituencies will cast their votes in the final phase of polling on April 18, 2019. Both Silchar and Karimganj constituencies will undergo polling on Aprill 18.
