Congress demands CBI probe into appointment in PNRD and DIPRO departments in Assam

The Silchar District Congress Committee, on Wednesday, submitted a memorandum to Governor Jagdish Mukhi demanding a CBI probe into alleged anomalies in recent appointment in the Panchayat and Rural Development (PNRD) and Directorate of Information and Public Relation Office (DIPRO) departments under the Government of Assam.

The memorandum said PNRD minister Naba Kumar Doley along with many ministers and and some BJP legislators and RSS activists were given preference to avail appointments to their relatives and known persons in the specified departments. 945 appointments were issued after a written examination conducted by a company “Bloom Electronics” considered by the state government on March 5.

The results of the examination were declared on March 6 and the concerned candidates were directed to join the job. This clearly reveals that verification of their documents was not done, the memorandum said.

The Congress committee alleged that most of the candidates were found to be relatives and close associates of the PNRD minister and other ministers of the state.

Also, in the DIPRO department guidelines have been violated regarding appointment of 64 candidates. These candidates were also found to be relatives or close associates of BJP ministers and leaders in the state, the committee alleged.

It has demanded that a CBI probe be conducted into the matter and sought the intervention of the Governor of Assam in this regard.
