Modi is the king of corruption: Sushmita Dev

Mahila Congress president and Silchar MP Sushmita Dev, who has been nominated once again by the Congress in Silchar in connection with the upcoming Lok Sabha election, attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday and termed him “the king of corruption”.

Dev, who attended a party-workers’ meeting at Indira Bhavan in Silchar this afternoon, said Modi had talked a lot about eradicating corruption from the country, however, the government itself is indulged in big scams, she alleged mentioning about the Rafale deal and demonetisation.

She said the amount of losses people have suffered due to demonetisation cannot be quantified. Rather, people like Lalit Modi, Nirav Modi, Vijay Mallya, who have good connections with Narendra Modi, are now absconding after looting tax-payers’ money. Modi is not going to win this time again. He would not get the vote of the youths which helped his government come to power in 2014, she said.

She expressed her thankfulness to the district, mandal, block, APCC and AICC members for their faith on her once again and said every election has its own challenges. One important issue is that of the votes of tea gardens. I believe Modi government giving Rs 5000 to tea garden labourers would not uplift them financially. They (tea garden workers) have suffered a lot in the past five years, she said.

Former Silchar MP Kamalendu Bhattacharjee, former MLAs Bithika Dev, Ataur Rehman Mazarbhuiya, Rumi Nath, Enamul Haque Laskar and Cachar district congress president Pradip Dey were also present.
