Police arrests eve-teasing accused Arshad Ali Laskar; “possible act of revenge” says victim

Today afternoon police arrested Arshad Ali Laskar, son of Taj Uddin Laskar a resident of Auliya Tilla areas located in Uttar Krishnapur.

A lady, lawyer by profession had complained against Arshad Ali Laskar, accusing him of constantly harassing her by using expletive language and catcalls. After being harassed repeatedly, the lady on March 11, 2019, lodged a complaint in Silchar Sadar Thana.

Today the Police officials arrested Arshad Ali Laskar and is currently interrogating him. The lady identified Arshad Ali Laskar as an employee of Modern Shoe House, located near Bara Masjid. The lady lawyer, also a part of the Silchar Bar Association, recently fought a case of divorce against a relative of the owners of modern shoe house after which Arshad Ali Laskar started harassing her.

The lawyer also the victim in this case, believes that the owner of the Modern Shoe house has intentionally plotted Arshad Ali Laskar to harass her as an “act of revenge.”

Police said they are investigating the matter and if needed will summon the owners of the shoe house for further interrogation.
