Ram Madhav in Silchar: BJP will provide protection to NRC rejects

National general secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is in Barak Valley to campaign for party’s selection from Silchar, Rajdeep Roy. Today, writer, journalist turned politician held a press conference in Silchar where he raised the issue of National Register of Citizens. Madhav said that BJP will protect the 40 lakh NRC rejects and if needed the Cnetre will pass Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016. 

He took a jibe at Congress candidate and Silchar MP, Sushmita Dev. He said, people of Silchar voted her as an MP but she went to Delhi and got involved in party’s national responsibilities ignoring the plight of the people of Silchar. He also said that Congress or Sushmita Dev did not do anything where as Modi government need not spell out their contribution as it is already known to the people of Barak Valley.

He accused Congress of portraying the “Reduction Sale” crowd as Priyanka Gandhi supporters. He said if Priyanka Gandhi was so popular in this region Congress should have organised a rally in the remote areas as BJP did for Modi.

Apart from Ram Madhav, former union minister Kabindra Purkayastha, Silchar MLA, Dilip Paul, BJP’s district president, Kaushik Rai, Rajdeep Roy and others were also present in the press conference.
