Man dies inside a 50- feet deep well; locals request for compensation 

As a sad turn of affairs a labourer who dived deep in a well to clean it never came out. The incident took place at  third part of Balirband village in eastern Katigorah. Identified as Khayrul Islam a 45-year-old resident of the same village went to clean the well of the Balirband Mosque at around 10:30 in the morning.

However, after a short while he slipped deep and started to scream. The locals rushed to the well and tried to rescue him but in vain. 45-year-old succumbed and never came out. Locals then contacted the Katigorah Circle Office which reported to the SDRF forces and the Katigara Fire Brigade. Sumon Dev from the SDRF, Nurul Islam, Ranjan Kumar Dasar and K Nunia of Katigorah fire brigade recovered the dead body from the well of the mosque.

The depth of the well is estimated to be around 50 feet. It is speculated that Khayrul died due to poisonous gas. Khairul lived by his wife, son and three daughters. He was a daily wager, so, the residents request the government to compensate his family.

Meanwhile, Katigohrah police sent Khairul’s body to Silchar Medical College for autopsy
