Silchar - Kolkata: SpiceJet to add another flight; price could drop
Low cost carrier SpiceJet is going to add one more flight in the Silchar-Kolkata route, taking the count of flights in this sector to three. This news comes as a great relief for passengers who are regular traveller in this route, for after the withdrawl of Jet Airways flights, airfares rose sharply.
The new flight will commence its journey from 1 June, and tickets for it have already been released in the airline’s official website. The flight will operate daily with arrival scheduled at 12:15 PM and departure at 12:35 PM at Silchar Airport. SpiceJet will deploy its Q400 aircraft for this flight.
With this addition, the total count of flights operating from Silchar airport will rise to 6, where 5 in Silchar-Kolkata route and one in Silchar Guwahati route. Air India is currently operating two flights from Silchar to Kolkata with one daily for civilians and another twice a month defense flight. Both are A319 aircraft.
It can be mentioned here that after the withdraw of Jet Airways, a void has got created in the aviation sector which had caused airfares to rise sharply in several high density routes.
