Renowned columnist and veteran communist leader Chandan Sengupta is no more
Last night, at around 10 pm, veteran communist leader and renowned author, columnist Chandan Sengupta breathed his last. 82-year-old Sengupta was admitted in Kalyani Hospital and was being treated by a team of doctors including, Lakhan Das, Aniruddha Biswas and Dhrubajyoti Paul. He was suffering from multiple health issues and was bedridden for a while. Yesterday, the revolutionary gave up his fight.
Sengupta was a forerunner in the CPI (ML). Apart from politics, he was actively involved in journalism. He edited Arunodoy for a while and wrote for many other publications. Despite being unwell, he wrote a series for a local daily narrating the value of left ideology and how CPI(ML) fought for the oppressed ones.
His last rites will be conducted today. The party cadres gave the veteran leader the traditional guard of honour.
