Cycle rally organised on June 4 to create awareness on environment protection
The Cachar district administration is all set to celebrate the World Environment Day in a befitting manner, which falls on 5 June. A series of events have been lined up and the very first is a Bicycle rally on 4 June.
The rally will be jointly organized by District Administration, Forest Department and Kreeda Bharati, with a view to generating awareness on protection & preservation of environment among the people.
Rally will commence at 6:00 AM from Silchar DSA ground & will conclude at the Police Parade ground after traveling through all major streets of the town. According to a letter written by Dy. CEO of Cachar Zila Parishad to Cachar division forest officer, the rally will travel through DC office, Janiganj, Tulapatty, Central Road, Premtala point, Jail road, Ambikapatty, Hospital road, Sonai road, 1st Link road, National Highway point, Chengkuri point, Vivekananda road, and Tarapur. Light refreshment will also be arranged for the participants.
It can be mentioned here that Cachar Administration this year has set a target to plant 1 million saplings during a month-long plantation drive which will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonwal on 5 June.
