Police arrests drug peddler in Barak Valley; confiscates 7 heroin containers

Identified as Nizam Uddin Barbhuiya, a drug peddler was arrested in Katlicherra, Hailakandi last night. Reacting to a tip-off, Hailakandi Police launched a search operation yesterday and managed to catch Nizam Uddin redhanded along with seven containers of heroin. 

Officer-in-charge of Katlicherra Police station confirmed the news and said, “Nizam Uddin confessed his crime. He said that he was carrying the drugs to handover to the clients.” Nizam Uddin was produced in court today and the judge decided to send him to police custody.

Police sources informed us that, Nizam Uddin was at National Highway Road in Hospital road, Hailakandi. “He told us that he was supposed to meet his clients there,” the source added.

Police is currently investigating the matter and trying to find out if there are more people involved in it.
